Midjourney V8 (alpha; V8.1 default 2026-06-11; V8.2 2026-07-24)
V8 alpha (2026-03-17) became V8.1, which replaced V7 as default on 2026-06-11: 4-second SD images, native HD at 4x V7 resolution, better text.
V8.1 is smarter on detailed prompts and text, renders in 4 s (SD) / 12 s (HD) and 2x size / 4x resolution in HD mode; V8.2 (2026-07-24) targets aesthetics and personalization; an instruction Edit model (up to four reference images, inpaint/outpaint) opened to everyone 2026-08-27.
