Studios v. Midjourney (copyright suit)
Disney and Universal sued Midjourney over Darth Vader, Minions, Simpsons-style outputs; Warner Bros. Discovery filed its own suit in September 2025.
Midjourney argues fair use and 'industry custom'; by mid-2026 the C.D. Cal. case was in discovery, with Midjourney pressing the studios to disclose their own AI use. No ruling or settlement had been reported by early October 2026; summary-judgment motions are due later in 2026.
