Disney investment and Sora character license
Disney agreed to invest $1B in OpenAI and license 200+ Disney, Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars characters for Sora and ChatGPT Images over three years.
First big-studio content license for a video generator. Deal included warrants for more equity and curated Sora videos on Disney+. It collapsed when OpenAI shut Sora in March 2026, with no money changing hands, per TechCrunch.
