ChatGPT canvas
Canvas opens a side-by-side editing workspace in ChatGPT for writing and code, with inline edits and shortcuts.
Moved ChatGPT from chat transcripts toward a shared document the model and user both edit. By mid-2026 canvas was removed from the GPT-5.5 models in favor of inline writing and code blocks (search-reported help-center note).
