Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP)
Open standard for agentic commerce, announced at NRF 2026, covering discovery to purchase and enabling checkout inside AI Mode and the Gemini app.
A shared protocol so shopping agents and merchants interoperate across platforms. First use is a checkout feature on eligible US product listings in AI Mode and the Gemini app, with Google Pay (PayPal later), and retailers stay seller of record.
