Project Astra
Project Astra is DeepMind's prototype universal AI assistant, shown at I/O 2024. Its camera, screen-sharing and video features later moved into Gemini Live.
A research testbed with no product behind it. Current Astra work explores low-lag natural voice, proactive responses, context-aware dialogue and tool use across Search, Gmail, Calendar and Maps, with a waitlist and glasses as a target form factor.
