Quality step over Imagen 3 with several aspect ratios and 2K resolution; a Fast variant is up to 10x faster than Imagen 3. Developer preview 2025-06-24, GA 2025-08-14. Gemini-native image models (Nano Banana) later displaced it; Imagen 4 API shutdown was set for 2026-08-17.
