AI Overviews in Google Search
AI Overviews put Gemini-written summaries at the top of Search, announced at I/O 2024 and reaching 1 billion people by December 2024.
Gemini 2.0 was added in the US in early 2025 for harder questions (coding, advanced math, multimodal), and the AI Mode experiment followed in March 2025.
