Measuring Progress Toward AGI: A Cognitive Taxonomy

Google DeepMind · 17 March 2026

Google DeepMind proposes ten cognitive abilities as a framework for measuring general intelligence and opens a $200,000 Kaggle hackathon to build the evaluations.

Draws on psychology, neuroscience and cognitive science to define abilities such as perception, attention, learning and memory, then asks the community to build tests for them. A framework paper, not a model release.
