Janus (and JanusFlow)
1.3B unified model that decouples visual encoders for understanding and generation inside one autoregressive transformer; JanusFlow (2024-11-12) swaps in rectified flow.
Prior unified models (e.g. Chameleon) used one visual encoder for both tasks and traded off quality. Janus keeps two encoder pathways feeding a single transformer. JanusFlow combines an autoregressive LLM with rectified flow for generation.
