Doubao large model family
Volcano Engine launched the Doubao family, with general Pro and Lite models plus nine others, priced at about 1 yuan per 2 million Chinese characters.
ByteDance entered the Chinese model-as-a-service market roughly a year behind Alibaba and Tencent, competing on low prices. The model, earlier called Yunque, backed the Doubao chatbot (over 26 million monthly users per Caixin).
