Tool use (function calling) GA
Tool use becomes generally available across the Claude 3 family on the Anthropic API, Amazon Bedrock and Google Vertex AI.
Claude can call developer-defined tools to extract structured data, turn requests into API calls, query databases and automate software tasks. Adds streaming with tool use, forced tool selection, and tools combined with image input. Opus now emits thinking tags to show its reasoning before a tool call.
